Medical Transcriptionist - Contractor

We’re looking for an experienced and detail‑focused Transcriptionist to support our clinicians by delivering accurate, timely transcription services. This contractor role is ideal for someone who is organised, proactive, and comfortable working autonomously while contributing to a supportive team environment.

About the Role

As a Transcriptionist, you will play a key part in ensuring our clinicians’ correspondence is delivered efficiently and to a high standard. You will be responsible for transcribing medical letters from dictation, liaising with clinicians on queries, and distributing completed letters through the appropriate channels.

You will work with allocated doctors, using our systems and templates, and follow clear turnaround times for urgent and routine letters.

Key Responsibilities

• Transcribe clinicians’ dictations, ensuring accuracy and correct formatting
• Manage your allocated doctors’ workload via SpeechLive and Mosaiq
• Print and maintain clinic lists used for tracking letter requirements
• Clarify any queries directly with clinicians and submit completed drafts for approval
• Action amendments and distribute final letters via email, EDI, or post
• Attach additional documentation when required (e.g., scan reports)
• Follow up on outstanding items to meet published turnaround times
• Run daily and weekly clinic audits
• Provide cover for colleagues when possible
• Complete any other tasks as required by the Team Lead

About You

• Are highly organised with excellent attention to detail
• Communicate confidently and professionally with clinicians
• Work well independently and manage competing priorities
• Are comfortable with technology and learning new systems
